The tradition of Indian percussion has been revolutionalized by tabla actor Zakir Hussain. The son of Ustad Allah Rakha, the long metre cooperator in offense of Ravi Shankar, Hussain has transmitted his father's quest for delivery the music of Bharat to the international stage. His transcription credits include albums with George Harrison, Joe Henderson, New wave James Douglas Morrison, Diddly-squat David Bruce, Tito Puente, Pharoah Saunders, Nightstick Cobham, the Hong Kong Symphonic music and the Newly Orleans Symphonic music. His work with Mick Lorenz Hart of The Grateful Dead consume included performances and albums with the Diga Calendar method of birth control Band and Planet Drum. Hussain joined with Brits guitarist John McLaughlin and Amerind violinist L. Ravi Shankar to descriptor the east-meets-west supergroup, Shakti, in 1975. Although the radical disbanded in 1978, they reunited to turn as Commemorate Sakti in 1998. Hussain has been as successful as a bandleader. During the 1980s, he toured with Zakir Hussain's Rhythm Experience.
